Chinese Automakers Unveil June Delivery Volume

On July 1st, several Chinese car companies announced their delivery results for the month of June. Among them, XPeng, NIO, Hozon Auto, Li Auto and Leapmotor once again exceeded 10,000 units throughout the month.

NIO delivered 12,961 vehicles in June, increasing by 60.3% year-over-year. NIO delivered 25,059 vehicles in the second quarter of 2022, increasing by 14.4% year-over-year. Cumulative deliveries of NIO vehicles reached 217,897 as of June 30, 2022.

Li Auto remained stable in June, with 13,024 units of Li ONEs delivered, up 68.9% year-on-year. This brought the company’s second quarter deliveries to 28,687 units, representing a 63.2% year-over-year increase. The cumulative deliveries of Li ONE have reached 184,491 since the vehicle’s debut in 2019.

In terms of new car deliveries, XPeng previously stated that “it plans to deliver 250,000 vehicles in 2022 and strive to deliver 300,000 vehicles”. The company recorded monthly deliveries in June of 15,295 Smart EVs, representing a 133% increase year-over-year. As of June 30, 2022, year-to-date total deliveries reached 68,983 units, reaching 28% of the annual goal.

Zeekr, the premium EV brand of Geely Holding, announced the monthly deliveries of its Zeekr 001, delivering 4,302 units in June 2022, edging down 0.6% from the previous month.

BYD sold 134,036 vehicles in June, up 162.7% year-on-year, including 69,544 electric vehicles. For the first half this year, BYD sold 646,399 vehicles, up 162.03% from a year earlier.

In June, a total of 13,157 U models and V models under Hozon Auto were delivered, up 156% year-on-year, and a total of 63,131 units were delivered from January to June, up 199% year-on-year. In June, 11,259 units were delivered by Leapmotor, an increase of 186% year-on-year. Although the brand power of Hozon Auto and Leapmotor still has room to grow, the companies’ focus on the low-end market means a wider user base.

In June, Huawei’s vehicle manufacturing partner Chongqing Sokon delivered 12,418 new energy vehicles, up 185.41% year-on-year, of which their Seres brand sold 7,658 units, up 524.12% year-on-year. With the upcoming AITO M7 model and the continuous release of production capacity, the market potential of Sokon should see some growth going forward.

According to a July 2nd report by CCTV Finance, while European countries accelerate the development of new energy vehicles, China has become the largest new energy vehicle market in the world. From January to May this year, the sales volume of new energy vehicles in China exceeded 2 million units, an increase of about 111% year-on-year. In 2021, the global export volume of China’s electric vehicles doubled year-on-year to about 550,000 units, of which about 40% were sold to the European market. At present, Chinese electric vehicles have accounted for 10% of the total sales of electric vehicles in Europe.
