Chinese Delivery Platform Meituan Waimai Ranks First for Food and Drink Category in Daily iOS and Google Play Downloads Worldwide

Mobile data analysis company App Annie released a report last Friday pointing out that the food delivery application Meituan Waimai released by Sankuai Technology Co., Ltd. has surpassed 100 million app downloads across iOS and Google Play stores worldwide, ranking first.

Another Chinese food delivery firm Ele.me ranks second in the world, Dingdong Maicai is the third, followed by KFC China, McDonald’s China, Hema Fresh, Starbucks, Pupu Supermarket, Xiachufang and Luckin Coffee. This data only includes iOS platform and Google Store data, but domestic channel store data is not counted.

Meituan Waimai was released on iOS on November 19, 2013, and Google Play on July 18, 2017. The downloads mainly come from China, the United States, South Korea, Japan and Australia.

This app not only provides various international and local foods, but also provides delivery of soda, fresh fruits, pharmacy products and supermarket goods.

In addition, international brands such as McDonald’s are still very popular in China. From October 2020 to September 2021, its downloads ranking in the iOS food and beverage category increased by 12 positions year-on-year.
