Consumer Tech Startup Nothing Begins to Promote First Smartphone

Nothing, a consumer tech startup established by former OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei, is about to launch its first smartphone, the Nothing Phone (1). More details regarding the new device have now been released.

During a press conference on May 24, Nothing introduced some configurations of the Nothing Phone (1). Carl Pei and head of design Tom Howard revealed that the device will have a transparent case, supports wireless charging, and the metal middle frame is made of recycled aluminum material, which is expected to be put on shelves sometime this summer.

Nothing previously launched the Nothing Ear (1) headphones last year. As of late January 2022, the shipment of Nothing Ear (1) exceeded 400,000 units. Like the new smartphone, the earphones also use a transparent case. “From the very start, we wanted to have a very distinct and iconic design language of our own. Phone (1) and Ear (1) will clearly be from the same family,” said Pei.

According to a previously leaked user manual, the Nothing Phone (1) will be equipped with a 6.43-inch full HD + AMOLED display, supporting a 90 Hz refresh rate and HDR10 +. The smartphone has a built-in Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G processor and Adreno 642 GPU, 8GB memory and 128GB storage space, and is equipped with Nothing OS based on Android 12.
