Horizon Robotics Reaches Strategic Cooperation with MINIEYE

Horizon Robotics, a Chinese chip company, recently reached a strategic cooperation agreement with automotive technology developer MINIEYE. On the basis of their respective advantages in software and hardware products in AI chips, intelligent driving, human-computer interaction and other fields, the two sides will work together to create leading intelligent driving products.

Meanwhile, they will jointly accelerate the commercialized implementation of Advanced Driving Assistance System (ADAS) in both passenger and commercial vehicle fields while working to improve the safety and transportation efficiency of automobile travel.

Yu Kai, founder and CEO of Horizon, said that the real implementation of intelligent car programs requires extensive and in-depth industry linkage. MINIEYE is a rare domestic automotive technology developer with competencies in both the technology and experience in mass production, while Horizon is the only technology business that has achieved the mass production of vehicle-grade AI chips for front-loading. As two highly complementary intelligent driving technology businesses, together they will be able to drive the mass production of leading intelligent driving solutions and accelerate the popularization of smart cars in both passenger and commercial vehicle uses.

As only the third manufacturer, after Mobileye and Nvidia, to realize the large-scale production of special ADAS chips, the Journey series chips of Horizon Robotics are widely carried on the models of many mainstream car factories, with the current shipments having reached over 800,000 pieces.

As a way to cope with the demand from intelligent market for high computing and performance chips, in July this year, Horizon officially released its Journey 5, a complete intelligent central computing chip for vehicles. The AI computing power of a single chip is as high as 128TOPS. The chip has also passed ASIL-B functional safety product certification, which is able to support the needs of multi-sensor fusion, prediction, planning and control required by vehicle intelligence.
