JiDU Automobile Announces Patent for Autonomous Driving System

According to Tianyancha APP, on Friday, JiDU Automobile, a joint venture between Baidu and Geely, applied for an autonomous driving patent.

According to the abstract of the patent, the autonomous driving method will plan the route through the map positioning module while the environment monitoring module is able to implement full angle detection around the entire car body. The control panel will retrieve the appropriate control logic according to the planned route and real-time road conditions.

In order to control the cost of building such a system, the autonomous driving system is equipped with the least number of radars, cameras and sensors, thus solving the difficulty of large-scale commercial application.

Baidu, JiDU Automotive and Qualcomm Technologies announced on November 29th that JiDU’s first production vehicle will feature an intelligant digital console system assisted by Baidu and Qualcomm Technologies. JiDU will produce vehicles featuring the new digital console and are expected to be available in 2023.
