Kuaishou to Start Alpha Tests for Creator Version of App

Wang Jianwei, Senior Vice President of Kuaishou, revealed at the company’s 2022 Photosynthetic Creators Conference on July 29 that the firm will be conducting alpha tests of a creator version of its short video app this year. The move is aimed at further promoting the standardization of creator services, and providing creators with full chain services including analysis and diagnosis, creative inspirations, creator lists of the whole platform, and exclusive activity notices.

According to its financial report, the daily active users of Kuaishou reached 346 million and the monthly active users (MAU) were 598 million in the first quarter of 2022, both of which reached record highs. With the enhancement of users’ social trust, various content supply and continuous iteration of technological models, overall traffic on the platform has achieved a high-speed growth of 50% year-on-year, which also lays a foundation for the steady growth of the firm’s other business segments.

Regarding platform content supply, Kuaishou has continuously strengthened its refined content operations, creating special categories such as short-form shows, sports and extensive knowledge, with the increasing demands of users for different content categories. Simultaneously, Kuaishou livestreaming has also increased support for its ecological high-quality content and boosted the productivity of livestreaming content such as opera, music, dance and traditional arts.

Cheng Yixiao, the founder and CEO of Kuaishou, said that the firm’s decentralized traffic distribution mechanism had brought more good content to attention and had effectively improved the activity of creators.

At the same time, the firm further encourages creators to create high-quality content by giving more traffic inclination to high-quality creators on the platform. It is reported that in the first quarter of this year, 25% of MAU created content, and the content of creators meeting medium and long tail requirements contributed more than 80% of video views. In addition, the average daily livestreaming time of each host increased by double-digit percentages annually.

The company has previously launched “Star Magnet,” an ecological marketing platform. According to officially released data, as of the end of June, the overall number of people who settled in the platform was close to 1.7 million, and indicators like the liquidity of talent, the scale of business orders and the average views of business orders all performed well. The platform also launched a series of special plans this year, including the 2022 upgraded version of the “Xinghai Plan” to promote the commercialization and development of high-quality creators with exclusive traffic as incentives.
