Qualcomm and Lenovo Working on World’s First 5G PC

Qualcomm announced during its Computex press conference today that it will launch the first Snapdragon-powered 5G PC with Lenovo.

The collaboration mysteriously titled Project Limitless is expected to become the next stage in the development of PCs. Lenovo announced that the ambitious project is set to “develop a new class of 5G connected PCs that are always-on, always-connected and engineered for a smarter, modern computing experience.”

The computer will run on Qualcomm Snapdragon 8cx 5G, the world’s first 7nm platform built for PCs with 5G connectivity. The company claims that it will ensure “multi-gigabit data speeds, long battery life and security rich capabilities.”

The collaboration is expected to yield a computer that will be independent of hotspots and WiFi connection, resembling more of a mobile phone than a classic PC. Its swift performance is expected to allow it to handle futuristic tasks like real-time translation, instant uploads of large files and online collaboration on CPU intensive tasks like film editing.

Project Limitless is slated for release in early 2020.
