Realme GT2 Pro to Be Equipped With Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 Mobile Platform

After Qualcomm announced the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 Mobile Platform on Monday, Xu Qi, Vice President of realme, announced that the firm will become the second smartphone brand in the world to apply the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 Mobile Platform to its products, and the first model is the realme GT2 Pro.

Xu Qi said in a video speech at the Snapdragon Tech Summit that Qualcomm has always been one of realme’s most important partners. He also revealed that the company started to develop realme GT2 Pro as early as a few months ago, which will be the highest-end flagship product of realme since its establishment.

It is worth noting that a well-known digital blogger under the account name “onleaks” exposed the rendering of the realme GT2 Pro, showing that the back camera looks like a contactless thermometer. However, the authenticity of the findings needs to be confirmed.

Since realme was founded, its products have been mainly positioned at the middle- to low-end market, and geared towards younger consumers. Its domestic sales exceeded 10 million units last month. But the company has begun to develop the high-end smartphone market. This year’s newly launched realme GT series has been recognized in the high-end market. The realme GT and realme GT Master Explorer Edition are equipped with Snapdragon 888 and Snapdragon 870 chips, respectively.

On November 2, at the 2021 China Mobile Global Partner Conference, Xu Qi said that the firm will aim its focus at the high-end market. The company’s products are expected to be launched early next year, with prices starting at 5,000 yuan ($781).

Based on steady growth in the smartphone market, realme will continue to build on a “1 + 5 + T” strategy next year, in which “1” refers to smartphone, “5” refers to five core products, namely, computers, televisions, tablets, watches and TWS headphones, and “T” represents products such as cameras and smart plugs.
