Trains for Beijing Winter Olympics Put into Operation

Chinese state-owned media CCTV reported on Thursday that the trains to be used during the Beijing Winter Olympics were officially put into operation along the Beijing-Zhangjiakou high-speed railway.

The Beijing Winter Olympics trains are run by the China Academy of Railway Science, CRRC Corporation Ltd., and several other institutions under the organization of the China State Railway Group, CRRC. The trains are tailored to the needs of Winter Olympics. All trains utilize CR (China Rejuvenization Rail) EMUs and top out at 350 km. Some of the trains will even put into use the new Olympic version of Intelligent CR EMUs.

The trains have been painted with the design of “seasonal snow welcoming spring”, highlighting the theme of the Winter Olympics. The Winter Olympic train will run between the three major sports centers of Beijing, Yanqing and Chongli. The time between Qinghe station and Yanqing, Taizicheng, and Chongli will be 26 minutes, 50 minutes, and 65 minutes respectively.

On these special trains, an innovative 5G ultra-high-definition studio built by the China Media Group has also been put into operation. This is the first time in the world that an ultra-high-definition live-streaming studio has been built on a high-speed train using 5G technology.
