Xiaomi Wins Top Spot in June’s Global Mobile Phone Sales with Market Share Exceeding 17%

A report released Thursday night by market research company Counterpoint Research showed that in June 2021, Xiaomi‘s global mobile phone market share increased to 17.1%, surpassing Samsung (15.7%) and Apple (14.3%) to secure the first place globally.

According to the report, Xiaomi‘s mobile phone sales increased 26% in June–the fastest growing brand during that period. The report also made the assessment that Xiaomi had become the top mobile phone firm in the world in June. The firm has clearly seized the opportunity presented by Huawei’s fall in overseas markets and Samsung’s decline in the European and Indian markets.

According to another report made by Strategy Analytics on August 3, Xiaomi delivered 12.7 million phones in 2021Q2, up 67.1% year-on-year, with a market share of 25.3%, ranking first. This is the first time that Xiaomi has surpassed Samsung and Apple in market share in Europe, and it is also the first time that a Chinese smartphone brand has reached the top in Europe.

In July 2021, Canalys released its rankings for the global smartphone market share during the second quarter, showing that Xiaomi ranked second with a 17% global market share, representing a year-on-year increase of 83%. This is the first time that Xiaomi has surpassed Apple in total sales since its establishment.

At present, Xiaomi‘s expansion in overseas markets is rapid. Data shows that in 2021Q2, the global sales volume of Xiaomi reached 53.1 million. Among them, its sales volume in overseas markets was 39.7 million units, accounting for 75%.

Xiaomi will hold CEO Lei Jun’s annual speech and a new product launch on August 10, during which the Xiaomi MIX 4 will be officially released. The new product is likely to further stimulate Xiaomi‘s performance in the global market.

Xiaomi MIX 4 is expected to become the firm’s first mass-produced under-screen camera phone, equipped with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 Plus chip, a 150-megapixel camera and a 5000mAh battery.
