XPeng’s Mid-Size Coupe SUV G6 Appearance Exposed

On April 3, XPeng Motors, a Chinese new energy vehicle company, released images of its new mid-size coupe SUV model named G6. The car will make its debut at Auto Shanghai from April 18 to 27 and will be officially launched in the second quarter of this year with a price range between 200,000 – 300,000 yuan ($29039 – $43559).

Last month, XPeng G6 was already listed in China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology’s new car catalog. The new model is based on XPeng Motors’ third-generation F platform.

In terms of appearance, the design of XPeng G6 is similar to Tesla Model Y but still follows XPeng‘s latest generation family design language. The front face adopts XPeng‘s iconic full-width LED light and split headlight design. The car uses hidden door handles and has a fastback-style roof design. Regarding body size, the length, width, and height are 4753*1920*1650mm respectively and the car has a wheelbase of 2890mm.

Regarding interior design, changes seen in previously leaked spy photos include an upgraded central control screen.

In terms of the powertrain for the new car, there are two choices: single-motor or dual-motor versions. The single-motor version has a peak maximum rated output power of 218kW, while the dual-motor version adds another drive motor with a maximum output power of up to 140 kW resulting in a top speed reaching up to 202 km/h. The battery used by this vehicle is made by CALB. Additionally, the new car is built on an 800V high-voltage SiC platform which provides it with the same quick charging technology as that found in XPengG9.

As for intelligent driving features, the new vehicle is expected to be equipped with advanced intelligent connectivity and autonomous driving functions such as Highway NGP, City NGP, LCC Enhanced Edition and other smart assisted driving functions.

XPeng Motors’ Chairman He Xiaopeng also revealed some important information about XPeng G6 at the 2022 annual financial report meeting. XPeng‘s integrated die-casting technology will be applied to XPeng G6 in order to further control manufacturing costs.

Regarding range performance, He Xiaopeng stated that with CIB technology, thermal management technology and wind resistance capabilities, the range of XPeng G6 will exceed everyone’s expectations.
