Andy Tian, Co-Founder of Asia Innovations Group, Passes Away

Andy Tian, the CEO and co-founder of Asia Innovations Group (ASIG), a leading mobile social entertainment company, passed away in Beijing on February 6 at the age of 47 due to a sudden illness, despite medical efforts.

Tian started his career in Silicon Valley and co-founded one of the world’s earliest social app companies in 2008, which he sold to Zynga in 2010 to become Zynga China. Tian subsequently served as General Manager and led Zynga China’s expansion. He was also an early member of Google’s Greater China division, where he established the company’s mobile business and introduced the Android operating system in 2006. Prior to Google, Tian worked for Boston Consulting Group (BCG), where he specialized in strategy consulting for Chinese mobile carriers and banks.

Founded in 2013, ASIG is headquartered in Singapore and has 18 offices worldwide, with more than 1,000 employees from 23 countries across five continents. Since its inception in 2016, ASIG’s flagship product Uplive has become one of the world’s most popular live social platforms. Uplive connects hundreds of millions of users across emerging markets via its rich, innovative features such as multi-party live video and voice chat rooms, real time translation, and high-fidelity 3D avatars with real time motion tracking.

ASIG signed a business merger agreement with Magnum Opus Acquisition Limited, a special purpose acquisition company (SPAC), and expects to list in the US in the first quarter of this year.
