Huawei Releases Both Honor 10 and Honor MagicBook with Phone Sold Starting at $413

On the afternoon of April 19, Huawei Honor held a press conference in Shanghai, launching its new flagship phone Honor 10 and the brand’s first personal laptop named MagicBook.

Gradient colors

Honor 10 has adopted a gradient color design, and added a new colour named the Phantom Blue based on the 3D lithography glass design, and by mixing Pantone’s Electro-optic Purple with the previous Charm Sea Blue. There is also Phantom Purple which is a gradient from green to purple. There are four other options from Midnight black to Seagull Grey.

AI 2.0 cameras

Although Honor 10 adopted the notch design, it still a horizontally alignment for the rear dual cameras, rather than a vertical alignment like the P20.

Cellphone photography has always been a strong selling-point of the Honor series. This time it added AI 2.0 technology to its rear cameras of 16 MP and 24 MP, and the AI recognition scenarios have increased to 22 different categories with more than 500 scenarios. AI 2.0 can optimize and adjust different areas of image based on image recognition; it can also achieve accurate background blurring and automatic intelligent composition for portrait close-ups.

The front-facing 24 MP camera uses ISO sensitivity enhancement lenses and AI 2.0 technology for hair and facial features adjustments.

Ultrasonic fingerprint unlock

The fingerprint recognition button of Honor 10 is placed on the front of the phone. A live demonstration of Honor 10’s ultrasonic fingerprint unlock with wet hands was compared to similar features on vivo X21 and iPhone 8. Video shows that Honor 10 unlocked the fastest.

In terms of hardware, Honor 10 is equipped with a Kirin 970 processor, and three storage options of 4GB RAM plus 64GB stroge, 6GB + 64GB, 6GB + 128GB; its 3400 mAh battery also supports quick charge.

Price starting from $413

As for price, the 6GB + 64GB version is priced at 2599 yuan ($413), and the 6GB + 128GB version is priced at 2999 yuan ($477). It will be available for pre-order on JD.com and Huawei’s Vmall starting April 19th.

Honor’s First Laptop: Honor MagicBook

In addition, Honor also announced its very first laptop: Honor MagicBook.

Honor MagicBook has a 14-inch screen, with screen-to-body ratio of 81% and three-side metal body, weighing 1.47kg and opens to almost 180 degrees. Honor MagicBook uses a full-size custom keyboard with 1.3mm stroke, three levels backlight adjustment, and 7.6 seconds to turn on and off with fingerprint.

Honor MagicBook has three colors: Glacier Silver, Starry Sky Grey, and Nebula Purple.

In terms of performance, the Honor MagicBook is equipped with the 8th-generation Intel® Core™ processors i7-8850U and i5-8250U, the Invista MX150 discrete graphics card, and the 57.4W battery that can last for 12 hours. Honor MagicBook also uses dual-antenna WiFi with strong signal reception.

The i5 version of Honor MagicBook is 4999 yuan ($794), and the i7 version is 5699 yuan ($906).
