Xi’an, Beijing and Kunming were the top three cities for most dinner orders. Fast food, local cuisine and hotpot were the most popular dinner categories. On Chinese New Year’s Eve, Meituan Takeout’s top ten ranking list showed that most customers favored dinners priced over 2000 yuan ($315).
According to Meituan Takeout, the most expensive order was 67 bottles of Chivas Regal. That customer might have purchased the bottles for treating his or her festival guests. On Chinese New Year’s Eve, a restaurant in Suqian, Jiangsu province offered one yuan ($0.16) noodles with soybean paste to Meituan Takeout delivery staff to express their love and gratitude. The restaurant sold more than 130 bowls of noodles that evening.
Meituan Takeout said that Chinese consumers are changing their takeout food habits, and these new trends have positively impacted the O2O industry. Customers are preferring high-quality products and services, prompting delivery platforms to continuously upgrade their offerings.
