Mi A2: Xiaomi’s Second Android One Budget Phone is Coming Soon

On July 16, Xiaomi announced through Twitter that it will soon launch the Mi A2 – the successor of Xiaomi‘s first Android One powered Mi A1, and likely the international version of the Mi 6X.

As the first smartphone to use the Android One system, Mi A1 turned out to be a great success and praised to be the best budget phone of the year after it was released in Sept 2017.

Launched in 2014, Android One is an operating system developed by Google to provide a consistent user experience and improved security through frequent updates and Google Play Protect, Google’s built-in malware protection.

On July 15, Xiaomi tweeted a teaser of Mi A2 with a picture captioning, “The next gen is coming.” The tweet also states that if you are a fan of Mi A1, then you would love this.

As for its specifications, Xiaomi Mi A2 is almost the same as Xiaomi 6X, except for the operating system. Different from the Mi 6X which runs on MIUI, Mi A2 runs on the original Android system which automatically updates with Google’s native Android system.

Xiaomi Mi A2 would feature a 5.99” Full HD+ screen and Snapdragon 660. As for its cameras, it has 12 MP + 20 MP dual rear cameras in vertical alignment and a 20MP front camera. The camera would be packed with AI functions that supports the AI Portrait mode. The phone would also have a 3010mAh battery that supports Quick Charge 3.0, as well as 6 GB of RAM and 64GB of storage.
