On September 11th, Shen Fei, the Vice President of NIO, had previously shared a photo on the evening of September 1st showing an interview with a staff member at a battery swapping station in Urumqi. In the picture, the staff member is holding a mysterious phone.
Today, the phone in this picture has aroused the curiosity of various digital bloggers. @Ark posted an article this morning, stating that this “NIO phone” looks a bit like a combination of OnePlus and Realme GT5. It seems that this should be the first unofficial debut of the NIO phone.
Of course, from this photo, it seems that only a part of the design on the back of the phone can be seen, such as the curved back cover and a larger-sized camera module, which includes at least 3 and up to 4 cameras.
In the second quarter earnings conference call of NIO in 2023, William Li, the founder, chairman, and CEO of NIO, stated that “the launch of smartphones will help increase the competitiveness of our vehicles.” Currently, we plan to deliver smartphone products by late September.’ It is worth mentioning that there will be functional integration between NIO smartphones and car cabins.
And before this, William Li had revealed some key information about the NIO phone. William Li claimed that the NIO phone is on par with Android flagships, but on the other hand, he also stated that the NIO phone is absolutely compatible as an iPhone backup.
According to the AnTuTu Benchmark database, the NIO smartphone is equipped with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 leading mobile platform, with 12GB of RAM and 1TB of storage space.
